Introducing Chester and Nixi!

Nixi is a 1 year old spayed Vizsla Mix who was brought to the shelter because her family could not afford to keep her anymore. Nixi is not good with cats, but she is good with other dogs and with kids. Before you decide to take Nixi home with you, please bring the rest of your family (including your family pets) to meet Nixi and make sure everyone will get along. She does like to pull hard when she is on a leash, but it's nothing that a little time and patience can't fix. Nixi is a great dog, very happy and playful, and will play with every toy that is given to her. She has been at the shelter since January and she is waiting to meet you! Help This wonderful girl get a second chance at life, and find her forever home.

Chester
is a neutered Black Labrador Retriever Mix and he is about 2 1/2 years old. Chester is a very happy, energetic dog and he seems to just love to play; the short time I did spend with him, he was so happy to just play fetch and run around. He does seem to know the command "sit" which I tested before we started playing. He was brought to the Humane Society because he was too hyper for his last family, and he does seem to get a little rough with younger kids. He is good with cats, other dogs, and older kids but please come down to the Humane Society and meet Chester before you take him home; bring your kids and other family pets to say hi! Chester has been at the shelter since January, so please come down to meet him! Maybe you will be his new forever home!

Say Hello to Paul and Ashley!

A Little About Paul:
"I'm a very happy guy! I am a 3 year old Labrador Retriever German Short Hair mix, and I have lots of energy because of my breed. I would love to find someone who loves to run and play as much as I do! I have been in shelters for quite some time now, my first family couldn't keep me, and the shelter they gave me too got too crowded and they sent me here. I used to be house trained, but I have been in shelters for so long now that I don't really know what to do; I would love to have someone who is willing to take the time to help me remember my inside potty manners.

I absolutely LOVE kids! I'm sometimes a little too energetic for the little ones because I get so excited to play. I really love other dogs too! If you already have a dog who loves to play games or race, I would love to meet them and play with them. Cats don't seem to like me very much, they never seem to like the way I play with them, so I would prefer not to live with one. If you are looking for a loyal, playful, happy and fun loving dog then I am the one for you! Please come down to the shelter and meet me."

A Little About Ashley:
"If you are looking for a vivacious lady to bring fun and joy to your home, then I am the dog for you! I am a 3 year old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon mix; because of my breed, I am naturally devoted to my family and I am very friendly. The landlord of my previous family said they couldn't keep me anymore, so when I first came to the shelter, I was very nervous and I didn't understand what was going on so I would cower in my cage and act defensive waiting for something else bad to happen. However, some of the shelter workers here were very nice to me; they took me out to play and helped me get back to being my perky happy self. Now when strangers approach my cage, I run to the bars eager for them to take me outside to play and run.

The volunteer coordinator is one of my favorite people! She is the one I first showed off my amazing leash skills; she also discovered that I am very willing to sit, as long as I can scent a yummy reward soon to follow. Some of the dogs around here don't even seem to know their own names..that's not the case with me! Anytime someone calls "Ashley", I come running. My last family didn't have a chance to tell the people here a lot about me, an for obvious reasons, I am having trouble showing all of my skills to the workers. They don't know if I am house trained even though I am 3; even if being at the shelter has gotten me off track..time, patience and supervision is all if will take to refresh my memory.

I have gotten along with every dog I have kenneled with here, but I would like to meet your dog before we become permanent roommates. The kids I have met here have been very interesting; if you have any kids, please bring them along with your dog so that I can have a chance to meet them. As for cats..I am very interested in them, but I have never lived with one before, so if you would like to adopt me, please ask the staff to test me with a cat so you can see if you like my response. I have had some good times here at the shelter, but I am ready and eager to move on to a permanent home and family where I can feel loved all of the time."
